Tecra 8000 appears to be dead

I have a Tecra 8000 which up until yesterday was working fine. This morning I switched it on and it froze half way through booting windows, I had to switch it off (holding the power button for several seconds) and now it's almost completely dead:

Hard disk spins up, power on light switches on, and the numeric keypad light (with the four little arrows) lights up when I press Fn. However there's nothing on the screen (and it's not just the backlight as I tried an external monitor too), it won't boot from the hard disk and doesn't try reading the floppy so I guess it won't boot from that either.

I doubt there's much I can do, but I thought it might be worth asking if anyone else has had a similar problem and is there a fix? Is there any way to factory reset the bios without being a Toshiba service technician?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated...

Just to let you know, I've tracked the problem down to the memory modules - some dirt or grease or something on the contacts. Anyway, I took the memory out and cleaned the contacts and now it's all working again.
