Memory upgrade

I own a sinlge core cx7, its bout 2 years old now. I bought it with 2 512mb pc4200 533 chips. I'm wanting to upgrade to 2 1g chips now and was wondering if anyone knows if I am forced to have Hypersonic sell me the chips, or if i can go to newegg and buy them myself and instll it. I've already looked into how to install it and it seems like a 5 year old could accomplish so installing won't be an issue. My question is though will something like this...http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145097 fit the slot?
Does Pat still roam these forums from hypersonic or maybe Ratmyr?

You are never forced to buy from anyone, its just a matter if installing them would void any warranty, in which case this being memory chips I would think not.

Most notebook ram chips are universal, so you shouldnt have any problem.

Installing them as well your pc manual should have a diagram showing you how to do it. I have already swaped out mine a few times and its very easy.
I have the EX7.

Cool, My machiens warranty has been used up already so im not worried about that part of it. I just got an outrageous quote from HS sales dept of almosT $400 for 2 gigs of ram. Tha's just insane imo.

If you look around the forum you would see that a lot of people even when buying a new machine opt to get the minimum ram and buy from New Egg, Tigerdirect, Compusa etc. The fact being you can get it cheaper than through the computer maker.

Its not in the makers best interest to compete with them, they make more money selling the machines instead of the parts.

Thats a good choice of memory. Installing the memory is very easy. You simply unscrew the panel abve your memory slots and open the metal prongs holding your existing ram. This will disconnect your 512mb sticks, and in the process, flip the slots up about 45 degrees. Just insert the new sticks in and close the slots back down. Screw the panel back in and you are ready to go.
