http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820220229

Outpost.com has some great deals on 2GB SO DIMM's for the 1710.

Two weeks ago, they were selling a pair of these (4GB) for $159. Needless to say, I stocked up!

It really just depends. Newegg used to be great with prices but now I only find their prices good. Its definitely one of the best places to find parts though. Fry's/outpost has deals as well and so does zipzoomfly. I've purchased parts from various sites as long as they appear credible

I prefer OCZ for memory so I would like these but I still dont even get close to using two on both my OS's. I will upgrade my memory once they go 4-4-4-12 OCZ but its really not important to me.

will the system be able to see 4gb ? i heard the max detected is 3.2gb even if 4gb is in there....

Depends on which system you have

32 Bit Windows (all) are limited to reading something like 3.6Gb...it cannot read 4Gb. 64 Bit OS's can read 8Gb. IMO, your waste'n your $$ going over 2 to maybe 3Gb or Ram. (never seen 1.5Gb sticks...lol)

I have a M1710 running 64 bit Vista P; I have the T7400 CD2 and have a smoking hard drive. I did not know about the 3.25 limit until after I ordered the ram for $186.00 shipped, RATS. I'm trying to max the computer for Crysis. I guess that I could have ordered a 2 GB chip to run with my 1 GB chip installed in the system already. If I ordered a 4 GB capable system and now I find out it is only a 3.25 GB system is that false advertisement on Dell's part?

Dell has plenty of disclaimers on their web site about a 4GB system not using all the installed RAM, so forget about becoming rich overnight by mean of some sort of lawsuit. Also, if you are running 64-bit Vista, you can address all the RAM you installed (as the above messages have stated).

Yea as he said it should be recognised on 64 bit. But, I thought Crysis was going to be a Direct X 10 only game? If it is all the ram in the world wont make it run on your 1710.

Crysis is not DX10 only...I looked at some DX9 vs DX10 pics of the game recently.

Also, the 64-bit OS's are capable of reading more than 4 GB provided you have the right chipset, but hes never gonna see 4 GB on his 32-bit architecture.

actually i just picked this memory up. Got 2 sticks from newegg and it works great. 3d apps (max, maya, zbrush, mudbox) games, the os.

Running vista ultimate 64 bit and yes the mobos chipset is gonna regulate you to 3.25 - 3.4 gigs of ram.

Still a good pick up.
