Every time I boot my laptop, the display gets messed up when the windows log in screen appears. The display flickers for a bit and odd patterns appear.

I think it's the graphics card for sure because the problem doesn't show up when I boot on battery.

The way I see it, the full clock speed of the graphics chip causes the problem.

I'm able to use the video card only if the clock speed is low, whether on battery, silent mode ( which reduces the clock speed of the GPU and CPU) or changing the powermizer settings to max power saving under AC power.

Can anyone help me out? What are my options? I know for a fact that I will not be able to replace the graphics card where I live.

Configuration:

Intel Centrino 2.0Ghz
Nvidia Geforce Go 6800 MXM
160 GB SATA
1GB Ram.
