Greetings,
I own a Sager 5720, which I bought with a PATA internal hard drive. I would like to upgrade to a new, larger-capacity SATA drive. The 5720 can accomodate either (at least I had the option of ordering it with either, and the Manual indicates that it can accomodate either). However, there is a small interface board between the hard drive itself and the motherboard (or disk controller?), that can only accomodate the PATA drive interface.
I'm assuming that, in order to install a SATA drive in my 5720, I simply need a SATA-specific replacement to this little interface board. I've sent a note into PCTorque asking about the avilability of such, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to post the question here as well.
So...has anyone tried to upgrade a 5720 from a PATA drive to a SATA drive (or vice-versa)? Is it possible? Is it simply a matter of swapping out the little interface board?
Any insights would be most appreciated!
Aloha,
Rich
