www.avadirect.com

My rig in my sig cost me roughly $1658. But you do get a 3 year Warranty with it which to me is worth the extra couple hundred dollars as opposed to the less expensive more headache prone DIY method. I'm not looking for a uber gaming platform so my rig suites me just fine.

I'm trying to configure a barebones through them and I can only see a 1 yr warranty

Don't configure a barebone pc, just configure a desktop PC.

w00t. Came, 9700 = bent to hell and the CPU fan doesn't power up. Side fan got jostled and unplugged. Beautiful Had to refuse shipment and I'll get it back in 2 weeks. Beautiful.

oh dude that totally sucks big time. so does the shipper come back to pick it up?

Yep, just picked the poor thing up Just noticed I accidentally have the motherboard box left here, not shipped out, but hopefully they won't need any of that to replace the CPU fan. At least I got to play with the X-Fi crystalizer and play a bit of music

Sorry about that, pdonket. How does this work with AVA? Do they assemble the system for you and ship it all put together?

Yep, they're just another boutique I'm actually surprised but on resellerratings.com they have an insanely good rep. Like, 1000 votes getting them to over a 9 out of 10 as an average. I was going to build it but I felt still unsure on some matters and was anxious to order

It seems sometimes ordering things all put together in terms of technology is just so hard. Especially with a 66lb box, I really need a gentle giant all along the way to be moving it to prevent the fragile parts from becoming damaged. To be honest, They must have really shook/dropped that box because the heatsink was a good inch bent and although copper is malleable, that would require tremendous force I think.

Anyway, by this point in my life, I've become genuinely used to technology not working the first time around. I remember a couple years back I would've been screaming all around the house if this happened but yesterday I think my mom was getting more frustrated than I was

lol. Personally I would talk to the company before they ship the next one out & request if they can leave the HS assembly in the original box & just let you install it. That should prevent any mishaps & allow you to properly install the HS & make sure it has not been shaken too much.

with that long trip, even if it wasn't damaged there is a chance the HS compound would be smeared around in such a way that it would not cool as well as it should.

I've been experiencing an interesting issue on vacation on this forum. I am using Vista & it seems that I can only access threads I am subscribed to. Hereis the issue:

subscribed threads format the links like this:

http://www.notebookforums.com/thread201036.html

normal thread links:

http://www.notebookforums.com/forums/thread201720.html

you notice the additional /forums in the link?

everytime I try to access a paage with /forums in it it says the page cannot be found lol. I am a little confused on that one. anyone have an idea? I cannot even create a new thread so meh...

However if I manually remove the /forum from the link I can access the page (though I would prefer not to have to do that every time.)

Any ideas?

Well, currently all I can tell you is that it's not a vista exclusive issue. The links you provided under XP have the same problem you describe. However, /forums never comes into my link

UPDATE: Took them 6 business days to install the HS. Really disappointed at this point. They gave the billing info to UPS but they seem to have not gotten them the package yet....they do promise it will get here monday though *cough* horseshit *cough*

Yeah Sol, sadly I tried and they just didn't want me doing it as it is one of the more complex things to install inside of the computer. So I had to deal with the wait

Well, I mean none of it is "complex" but I think in comparison to other things that are basic plug A goes to slot A it's something that an average computer user could screw up. Of course I'm more than an average computer user...but they don't know that
