Hey-
I have been using my Gateway for about 8 years. it died and I just opened the new notebook last night. I was lost. whatever happened to the manuals on how to use the machine, what is what, etc.?
anyway, my first questions is a [priority because I think the Gateway battery lasted 1 yr and I never used it. However like this new think pad it was always in place.
when I turn off the think pad, I leave it plugged in to the wall right? there are only 2 lights on when I close down the computer. One is a battery and one is an end of a power cord. I guess meaning it is plugged in. Why is the battery light on. would they not make notebooks to not use the battery, even if the machine is off, until the user wants to use the battery? I will use the battery like it is meant to be used about 10% of the total time I use the notebook.
Is there a way to leave the battery in place but not have it continual charging, even know it is fully charged? since 90% the machine will be plugged into the wall outlet, any suggestions?
When I turn the machine off, is it wise to disconnect the ac adapter or leave it plugged in?
anybody know any good info any starting new with a think pad T61, let me know. I am not even sure what this red rubber dot-thing is in the middle of the keyboard. it came with 2 different sizes of red caps, but you got me. In the drawing, most hings are identified but not this.
thanks.
