I have a Dell 9300. Recently, it's seemed a little warm, with the fans coming on fairly loudly when I've been watching lots of things on youtube, editing audio, etc. So, I decided I wanted to see what the temp was and how it compared to what others have posted in these forums.
So, I installed SpeedFan. I also installed MobileMeter. There was a significant temp difference between the two, with Speedfan showing a solid 10 degree C lower.
Then, to see if they were both responsive to changes in CPU, I opened several video files to get the CPU going in high gear.
The Speedfan didn't change it's readings at all. So, I assumed that it's not working. But, even as my CPU temp (according to MobileMeter) climbed to about 59 degrees C, my fans never kicked on. Shouldn't they have come on?
Dod Speedfan somehow stop my fans from working even after I uninstalled it?
