Cool - well like I said I could push my Q6600 more if I wanted. 3.2ghz is good enough for this photog though.

Hey JF, I forgot to let you know that you did an awesome job for a first time You got it up and running just like a pro! I couldn't take on liquid cooling

Yeah man just saw your thread a minute ago. Good shit! (but let me comment on that in your thread )

Anyway I'm adding an external radiator to my build that has two built in fans. should kill off more heat from that hot Q6600. I'm planning on getting an 8800 GTX waterblock but at that time I'll also add another pump!

I might lap my waterblock and IHS though it looks a bit daunting. I saw that you were going lap yours as well. I can`t wait to see it!

If you want, take a razor blade and see how flat they are, before you decide to lap it.

It takes a couple of hours and 20 bucks, for a 10 degrees c drop in temps.

It's worth it.

Please run 3DMark05 on that monster, curious as to default score on it...Also have you run GeekBench on it? I'm hitting a 3514 or so with my e6400, clocked at 3.5ghz

I think you can push this thing further, mine is like what 2.14ghz and it sits at 3.5ghz all day long doesn't hit above 45c with no special cooling besides a big ole fan!

Yeah make sure the surfaces are not flat before doing it or else you will have wasted those hours and $20.

I don't trust myself enough not to f*ck it up

Thanks to all the people who commented by the way, forgot to thank all you awesome guys.

Just an update, I tried to update the P5K-DLX bios and I ended up bricking it. LOL! Haha! Well anyway I contacted Asus Japan (agency is called MVK here) and they immediately helped me out. The turn around is about 1 week so I am expecting it back tomorrow. Rest assured though, this one week with my computer shut down wasn't all in vain. I bought a second external radiator, bought some Arctic Cooling MX-2, rewired the entire case for better airflow, and lapped the damn CPU and waterblock.

With these in mind I am praying for a drop in temps! Oh! And getting that other 500gb HDD soon to make it an even 2TB HDD Array.

Ofcourse I'll show some new pics when I get it back and have everything up and running.

Well it basically comes breaks down like this for me

1x 500GB = Primary Drive
2x 500GB (1TB) = Media HDDs (I'll let your imagination fill in what's there)
1x External Firewire 250gb = Photography (RAW/HDR/Travel Photography)
1x External Firewire 250gb = Windows Backups / Archived Software
1x External USB 100gb = Multipurpose (Lesson Plans/Files being downloaded)

To download, yeah, that's probably a lot, but I'm sure his broadband connection will ease such a tedious task. Btw, what's your connection, JF? ps.: On the last days, when I visited this section, I always saved a min or so to look at your computer (bookmarking the link would be easier!)... ps.2: I rarely shoot RAWs with the EOS 350D! And they already take so much space!!

Well I went to www.speedtest.net and while downloading some stuff through Azureus I ran this test.... Download: 12132 kb/s Upload 327 kb/s I am on KDDI ADSL here in Japan. Japan and Korea are considered to have the fastest internet connections on the planet. Did I mention that I am getting Fibre Optic Internet in a couple of months? In Canada it would cost me roughly about 200 dollars per month but here in Japan it's about the same price as ADSL. I think I'll be paying about 40 bucks a month.

I can't stop shooting RAW, I always start feeling bad if i only shoot JPEG because I know that RAW can somehow save me later on! But at the same time I love the easy of JPEG! *sigh* Now I always shoot at RAW + High Quality Jpeg.

Lucky man! I used to get those speeds however I guess a bunch of people hopped on my line and now I'm dragged down to only 8500kbps/1800kbps

That will be great I'm sure! I wish the things here could be at least a bit better... broadband by itself still costs a small fortune. 300-600k is still the "default" around here.
