About 43 bucks. It was actually cheaper to go with optical fibre than ADSL (ADSL cost me about 50 bucks).

I was walking around in a major electronics store here in Nagoya and some guy offered me the service.I told them that my ADSL was plenty fast and I didn't need it. However, when they showed me that it was actually cheaper and twice as fast to download (uploading actually improved ten fold) then I couldn't refuse. To sweeten the deal they gave me a TWO HUNDRED DOLLAR coupon to use in the store as a sign in deal. I have to stay with the service for atleast 3 months but basically I can also cancel when I wish. The best part of the deal was that I also got my previous ADSL service from this same store 5 months ago and at that time they gave me a 100 dollar gift certificate. I think I'll invest this money in another 22" monitor! So all in all it was pretty sweet. Torrents are noticeably faster thanks both to the faster download speed but mostly the upload speed. I am uploading a linux torrent at 500-700kb/s right now just to test her.

Are you referring to politically induced internet censorship, which if you are, then that's china.
