Ok, if these cards live up to what is being said...there is no way in hell I'm waiting on this purchase. Already gonna start saving up. CRYSIS FTW! If I can turn it all the way up, hellz yeah!

I'm only wondering about this whole tesselation unit. Supposedly ATI made this along time ago and its just beginning to get used now?

That is just insane. I would love to get something like that but I have to ask when your GPU cost a grand isn't that a bit much.

(guessing on the price but seems like that is the way GPU prices are going)

Lol things like tihs just make me laugh...why?

#1. Pricing will be insane
#2. Performace will be hindered by the rest of the system (CPU/Bus)
#3. I have a feeling the 8 series cards will be able to run this game quite well once it's out.
#4. Not that many ppl operate @ 2560x1600
#4. I am waiting for the 10 series cards..or the 11.... Bah There is always something new coming out lol. I don't think I will ever upgrade...

#5. anyone hear about the $900 8800 Ultra card?

http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/07/...han/index.html

What's sad is my 8800 Ultra I paid $585 for runs 713/2.3GHz.

In DX10 mode I don't necessarily see the 8 series running it at max as we may want. Also, even if there is no reason...it's just so damn powerful, what we live for, yeah, it's irrational, but we don't care!

Just wondering sol, why did you ever need 3 M1710's?
lol 1 fer me, 1 fer me wife, 1 fer me kiddo, meh I have the cash?

lol as far as performance & irrationality is concerned, as I said not that many people run at resolutions (2560x1600) that would actually take advantage of offered performance. Personally I love having top of the line equipment, it's great. however I don't care to have top of the line equipment that isn't going to be useful to me until Q2 of next year.

Considering by then the price drop, as wel as the inevitable introduction of the "Ultra" series by then, I think I will wait.

lmao at that Leviathan Ultra...its not even THAT much better

You have to consider that the card is still released from the manufacturer...They cant just put it to its absolute limits. I'm not trying to defend the card at all though.
Sure they can. The main reason behind that link was to show the absurd price of the card when compared to a card 400 dollars cheaper and OC'ed considerably more.
They use the same clocks for every card due to time constraints. Not all the cores can perform the same. Hence, they cant just clock the things at 700 core assuming that is a good core for the ultra.
Every card has a unique maximum core (and at which you get minimal returns from increased voltage or cooling).

And yes I see your point. Like I said, I wasnt trying to defend them. I'd never pay for that card.

They dont even wait until your thermal compound sets in now before releasing a new generation....

Looks pretty nice... almost makes me want to wait before I build a new desktop, but I'd never pay that much for video card.
