IBM R50p Power Charge

Hi there

I just got a new IBM thinkpad R50p and I am wondering why doesnt it charge the battery when the thinkpad is powered off? Is there any way to make it do this? It seems the only time it charges the battery is when its plugged in and powered on. Any answers would be great

Thanks

it does recharge

Dude,

I does recharge. I have one. I can prove it cuz I use the batteries a lot, so before going to sleep I plug it in and next morning the battery meter is green. Maybe you got bad batteries, or you are not waiting long enough to let it recharge.

How you like it so far? I do a lot of programming on mine, so for me it is a great programming lappie.

Ok, when the laptop is powered on and charging I see the battery light on.
I do not see any lights when plugged in and machine is off.
However it seems to charge fine when turned on.

So are there supposed to be any lights showing that the battery is charging when the machine is off and plugged in?

Well if the battery is below like 70% and you plug it in when is off or not it will show the battery light like orange and start blinking to tell you that charging is taking place. Have you contacted IBM about it? I am sure if you not satisfied with it you can send it back for a replacement or refund (within 30 days).

I contacted IBM-SERV this morning and they said that I should reset factory settings, however im not at home. I just talked with bill over at thinkpads.com and he seems to think it might actually be a bad battery,

Make sense?

heck,

Regardless, I would have just send it back. Look at the time you spend troubleshooting this problem. You could have had the thing shipped back to you by now. I think is a bad battery too.

How you like your new lappie? I have been using it a lot for programming and have not seen a blue screen yet.
