so i payed $650 for C2Q Q6600 on my alienware machine that will ship in August 13, which i ordered on July 22. After i order, alienware offers C2Q Q6700 for the same price.....

man... now im not too excited nor too sure about my order seeing how the C2Q q6600 dropped to $250~ish or somthing... BOOO i paid more than double for it.

Is it possible that i can get it upgraded or somthing seeing how i paid the same amount?

you should call them, they may honor the price drop or upgrade you...but it may push your system back in the phases...

so all depends on what phase you are in...

according to the website, im in phase 3.

I emailed them about the price change and such. MAAAn... begging for upgrades and such is totally not my thing.... but i have no choice damnit! haha...

i hope they give me an upgrade for free... im totally cool with it being delayed for a little while... its definately worth the FREEKIN extra i paid for q6600.

you should be able to as phase 3 is just the beginning stages of your build...if my memory serves me...phase 3 means they are gathering all the parts for your build...so the actual building of your pc has yet to take place

call them monday morning

They dont work on weekends right? WOW.... gotta be the first time ANYONE hoped that their phases don't move haha

Tech support is open 24/7, but they'll probably tell you to call customer service on Monday.

It used to be Alienware's policy to honor price changes before the computer is sent to shipping, so if you're still in phase 3 it's likely they'll change the order and price for you.

wow.... i checked today, and its now at Phase 5 (assembly)....

still possible to get the upgrade? I cant rest comfortably knowing how i spent nearly 3x the amount for q6600 which could have gotten me a q6700 =O

and honestly, now that i think about it, they SHOULD upgrade it for me because, theres NO difference whether i cancel my order right now and reorder because the price will be the same (with the new q6700) PLUS the shipping date will be the same, due the one of the parts being in low supply. But i dont wanna go through the hassle of doing that...

Just call! No since in overpaying for something like that, and they should understand. It's your money; get the best value you can.
thats too bad considering the Q6600 is going for about $300 now.

As long as you call before phase 9, they should adjust the price.

Call tech support and ask, what are you waiting for?

ehh... they didnt allow the change as they claimed that it was part of their policy that prices/parts etc... change without prior notice...

well i cant complain, and plus its already on phase 6 O_O

well i hope at least the Q6600 is G0 stepping.... it does have a chance to be G0 though correct?
wait... what was their reason they couldn't make the change?

this has been their policy to be able to change the final cost for years.
you could always cancel & re-order but your wait would start over again though

Hmmm.... I remember a while back they announced they were changing their policy on price adjustments prior to shipping, but I've seen people get their price changed since that announcement.

It may be they're finally enforcing the new policy.

I'd call and chat with another rep just to be sure.

It really makes sense if you think about it. If they already paid for the parts at the high cost and lower it for us because the price on the market went down, they would be losing a lot of money when that happened.

looks like youd have to cancel the order. whats the price difference? Maybe ask them to throw something in?
