Mobo fried?

Hi,

I've got one of the many Clevo D900T variants (mine happens to be a M-Tech), and I think I've fried it. I was running a graphics intense game, when I got the dreaded blue screen and went to restart. While booting, just as the BIOS finished it's checks, I got an error that read

"Resource Conflict-PCI Mass Storage Controller on Motherboard
Bus:0A Device:02 Function:00"

I thought that this meant the hard drive controller was fried, and tech support said the same. I'm just trying to get a second opinion, as I don't really know too much about these things.

The other bit of info I had I found when trying to boot off a CD to Knoppix. I'd get the same error, and just hit resume to let it boot off the CD, but then part way through Knoppix loading, it would just stop and freeze with the HD activity light on. I found that if I removed the harddrive and then tried to boot into Knoppix, I got the same error as before, but then Knoppix would boot just fine.

So, am I right that the motherboard is fried? Is there anything I can do about it, short of replacing the whole board? I'm a broke college student, buying another board for what is becoming an outdated laptop that doesn't suit my needs all that well seems like a bad idea.

Thanks for the help.
