9100 RAM questions

Thread Starter
I'd like to order a 9100 with minimum onboard RAM (256), then drop in my own when I get the laptop.

I don't know much about RAM- can somebody tell me the difference between

this

and

this

?

thanks

Remember that the RAM in the i9100 is Dual Channel, so you want it in matching pairs or you lose that speed advantage. So you would want 2x512MB for a 1GB total (2GB is waaaaay overkill). The Crucial RAM is excellent, and guaranteed to work. It is my favourite for laptops, but others prefer cheaper RAM or other brands, most of which are fine. So long as you get PC3200 200-pin SO DIMMs then you're doing well.

I tried to order 512MB DDR RAM SODIMMs from Crucial for my 9100 last night and they are out of stock until mid to late April. Crucial was my first choice, so I ended up ordering A-DATA RAM from New Egg.

My 9100 is on the way!!!

I ordered two Geil 512mb Golden Dragon SO DIMMS from Newegg.

(Newegg rocks... awesome customer service, and I have done about everything you can do with a company ie exchanges, refunds, add to orders, rush shipments etc) They are second to none in my book for their customer service AND great prices!

Just today: I didnt see they had a free pen (heavy silver type about $7.00 worth) as a free customer appreciation gift for purchasing memory. I wanted to throw it in the box with my order, but it already shipped. So she offered it to me anyway! So I get home and check the website; its already packed and it also had a free tee shirt too... just kind of nice!

No I don't work for them... read the customer comments! Dell should take NOTES!

They do seem good. An online store like them down under would be nice
But we do have a couple of others here that are OK, so we're not too bad off.
