I'm new to Dell product. From what I read on the net there is an issue with Dell product breaking down and bad customer service. Also can anyone tell me can I play Directx10 games with medium setting on this notebook. How fast it is?

Their as good as any other brand from what I've seen over the last 4 years that I've bought them, can't vouch for their customer service as I've not needed it in that time with 6 personal purchases going on 7 with the Vostro I just ordered.
I would highly doubt you will be playing any DX10 games at medium settings in DX10 mode and I really don't think any of the current mobile 8 series will looking at the framerates and settings for the desktop cards in the few DX10 games there are.
I don't really understand peoples obsession with DX10 as it is very new and has obvious performance penalties that will require much lower settings, which I imagine will negate the reason for using DX10 in the first place.Crysis or some of the games yet to be released might be better in this regard, but I can still see developers putting more effort into DX9 because thats where the largest user base is and will be for a little while yet.

As far as being fast, that would depend on how its configured,if your talking purely games,it should be middle of the road for the midrange type laptop it is,the Asus G1S certainly appears faster as far as gaming benchmarks goes, but it also costs 50% more where I live,so bang for buck, dell seems to have done pretty well IMO.

Don't know about DX10 gaming but I am playing WoW at 1680x1050 4xAA 16xAF & getting 55fps avg.

Thanks for the reply guys. My point is if this notebook can't handle directx10 at medium setting then why buy them. I'm sure there will be more directx10 games coming soon, if not this year then next year. So if I buy now then have to upgrade next year then what's the point of getting it now?

I have also set my eyes on Toshiba X205. My problem with this system is it's only for US customer and it's quite thick. Do you think the Tos is much better spec (except for the slower processor) for gamer?

What's the specs?

You can find the spec here.

It's expensive too. Will this be a better investment?

Until nVidia comes out with a 8800GTS-Go (or something like that) no laptop anytime soon is going to play DX10 games without some settings turned down I imagine. That said, my kid's new I-1520 plays BF2 and GTR2 with full settings and they are beautiful.

Also know that the Dell has a magnesium chassis, membrane backed (spill proof) keynboard, shock proof drives, etc. It's a very rugged laptop now...though certainly not the lightest or thinnest. And lack of a DVI/HDMI out is criminal IMO. But overall its a rocking machine..and there are always killer coupons and discounts for Dells.

Regarding coupons, check today for "mystery coupon" on google to see if you can get any one-use codes. The deal ends tomorrow and pertains to small business lines.

Thanks for the reply guys but I think I will wait just a little bit more. Looking at the price point I'm sure it will drop some more or maybe more free add-on. Thanks anyway.

The 8700 in the Toshiba will play games better than the Dell's 8600...not sure by how much though.
