One improvement listed is more memory is made available for the GPU. It appears mp4 video playback has improved on my puter.

162.22 runs like shit on my E1705 / 7900GS. I get a shaky screen in the control panel and World of Warcraft (one of the game that was "fixed") runs very slow.

Should mention. Vista 32 Bit.

I'm using 160.03 on my 9400 with a O/Ced 7900Gs IN VISTA 32-BIT WITHOUT A SINGLE HITCH OR PROBLEM WHATSOEVER!!

I finally ditched WinXP alltogether.

I no longer have problems with the 158.18 driver. They are however, way slower in WoW than they should be. The WoW issue has supposedly been fixed in the 162.22 though they do not work correctly for me.
I understand it may have been an INF issue from laptopvideo2go. I am going to try the new INF tonight. Would love to see a mobileforce with the WoW fix.

I have seen mostly bad posts about this set. Best to do a bit of research before upgrading--especially if you are doing fine as is.

I made it easier on myself. Installed Windows XP on a partition with the intent to game with it. I will switch to Vista for during my normal everyday things.
I was able to turn on 4XAA with everything cranked at 1920x1200 in WOW and it is running about 15 fps faster still.
nVidia had better get their shit straight with Vista.

There is a vista performance hotfix that is in testing right now.
I heard rumor it will be released "officially" by Tuesday if no problems are found.
You can find the unofficial testing version for download if you search the net (but I am waiting for the final myself)

Some of the main fixes are video related so here is hoping we will get better performance with games in Vista with this hotfix.

Oh, and I use 101.70 M6 drivers and they work quite well for me.

I've been using 158.45 for several weeks now with no issues. I tried various 16x.xx series drivers but have yet to find one that works well with my 7900GS (most sent frame rates under BF2 into the toilet).

Normally, I'm a bleeding edge type of guy, but when it comes to nVidia's drivers I'm sticking with what works in lieu of the latest/greatest...

Hi,

Can you please tell me where I can find the drivers and if they work for GO 7900GS?

thanks!

158.45 here as well. Seems to be the best option at the moment for Vista32 machines. Stick to that one.
Keep going back to the 158.45 also.
Well I might only have a 9300 at the moment, but I run 158.19, if anyone cares
post #13 of 16
Can anyone tell me what the definitive driver for the 7950GTX on Vist32 is? lol whatever ones I try are usually terrible, I mean theres got to be some better than stock Dells.
There is no definitive driver for any card out there. However, it seems like people have had most success with the 158.45 drivers. I'm one of them. I'd stick with it for the time being.
Right now id say the most stable is 158.45 there are new beta drivers at nvidia but ther enot newer release wise than the 162.22 WHQL ones.
i've tried these drivers...well they were pretty crap-tastic...@ least w/ my rig

...going to try out the 158.45's that DM suggested
