Problem with Cooling

Thread Starter
I just did some recent refurbishing of my Toshiba Satellite A45-S250. I run a home based business and was about to buy a new laptop, but decided to just fix mine up thinking it would be cheaper. I replaced the screen hinges (it would just not stay open anymore) and got a new keyboard (very sticky). I also formatted and reinstalled Win XP as the computer was running very slow (I figured I had a virus or something).

Well, now that the computer looks and feels solid and has a fresh OS, I encountered an error saying "A problem with your cooling system has been detected. Turn off immediately and return to service".

When the laptop first powers on, it runs GREAT. It begins to slow down and then the error pops up. As time goes on, it seems as if it shuts down into a very slow mode and it's pretty much slower than a Pentium 1 on 56K. This is very aggravating as this computer is the basis for my business. What do I need to replace on here to take care of it and get the computer back to 100%.

The fan does work and the laptop does not feel hot. I have removed the heatsink multuiple times in the past to remove dust also. Someone said to pull the memory and change its slots, I did that to no avail. Please help me! Thank you so much.

Did you remove the CPU's heatsink and if so, did you clean the underside of it and apply an even film of new thermal grease where the CPU contacts said heatsink?
