Sager NP5760 boot problem

I recently purchased the np 5760 sager laptop. Ever since I recieved it, the notebook ran just fine. But Just yesterday when I tried to start up the notebook, I get a black screen, so from the time i boot up to the black screen is about 6 seconds. Too be more detailed, Once the computer is turned on every thing looks fine, I see the SAGER boot loading screen, but once that finishes loading it goes to a black screen with an underdash symbol blinking on the top right for about 2 seconds then dissapears but the black blank screen remains there. note*, when it goes to the black screen, my HardDrive indicator stops blinking which probably means its not bieng accessed, but on the SAGER load screen it does blink. Also, when the black screen appears i still hear the fan running, but it sounds like laptop is on idle? I dont know if that makes sense. Anyways someone please help me, Im in europe so I dont want to ship it back to SAGER but I do have my recovery CDs. The probleme is I dont want to erase my Hard Drive since I did not back up all my info. Anyhelp I would be thankfull for.

Also I dont know if this helps but I bought this computer in the US, and I used it in the US and also in France. The probleme started in France. I dont think its a voltage probleme because the plug is universal and I tried the laptop in different houses, but i dont know. I only turned the computer on mabye 20 times before this screen appeared. I have not tried to Overclock the CPU or GPU so I dont think its that either. Please help!
Specs on the computer:
2 GB ram
Windows xp pro
100 gb 7,200 RPM Hard Drive
nVidia 7950 GTX 512 MB GPU
Intel Core 2 Duo CPU 2.33 GHz

You could always take the hard drive out of the laptop and plug it into any desktop computer with an extra SATA port to copy your data.

Did the problem happen ever since you went to Europe? Did it ever work once while running on the different power format?

Try running the laptop on just its battery once.

Can a notebook HD fit in a desktop port? The did start right once I got to France. Infact I used it in Different cities, all was fine. Then suddenly I get the black screen. So it was working in europe. I tried to run the laptop on just the battery but it appears my battery has no charge? I cant turn it on unless its pluged, and when it is plugged and I take the plug out my laptop shuts off Immidieatly. I have not noticed this until now, but in the US I know it did have a charge since I was using it without the cable in the US once or twice. I Put in the Recovery CD that it came with, and After the boot loading screen it says to press any key to boot from cd. so I press a key and it says its scanning my conifuration or settings (I forgot exactly what it said). And after mabye 2 seconds the cd stops spinning, and the HDD indicator also stops blinking at the same time? Any suggestions?

Yes, laptop SATA hard drives and desktop SATA hard drives use the same cabling. On a Sager 5760, the SATA hard drive has an extra adapter on the end that allows for the quick removal. I haven't tried removing it myself, but I'm sure you can remove this extra piece to expose the normal SATA connections on the hard drive.

It seems odd that you can run the laptop on the AC adapter, but it will not charge the battery. Does the battery light turn on EVER? (yellow or green) Try taking the battery out and putting it back in snug. Pretty much tell me what lights on the front turn on with it is 1)Powered off and plugged in 2)Powered on and plugged in 3)Poweredon and not plugged in (if this even works for you).

I would contact Sager support and ask about how the power adapter works in the different European countries. Tell them specifically what countries you were in and the symptoms you are having (pretty much what you wrote in this forum). If your battery isn't charging, that is definitly some kind of big issue. You may have to send your laptop back to them with all of the problems that the computer has dug itself into. (It's no good to right now anyway right?)

If it's stopping partway in, I wonder if the HD might be going wonky?

Okay, when it is powered down and plugged in it shows a green plug and a orange battery bar with a 1 next to it. When it is powered on and plugged in it shows the green plug, on top it shows the brightness symbol, the orange battery bar, the time, and the HDD indicator (only for a few seconds through). It wont turn on without bieng plugged. Sager has told me to remove the RAM chips and rearrange them , but that didnt work. I will be sending it it through RMA when I get back, but any suggestions while im stuck here? thanks. I also already removed and fitted back in the battery, and same with the Hard drive, still nothing.
