Compensations For Delays

Hello Everyone! As we all know, the XPS was delayed for most of us.

I was wondering what everyone was able to negotiate for compensation to the inconveniance. And if you could tell me who you received it from, that would be fantastic!

If you consider yourself a smooth talker you could probabaly work out something especially if this ate into your 30 day return time over the phone with a customer service rep

doesn't that "return time" period bein ticking when the unit ships? and not sometime prior to that? so i don't think you'll get that extended. Perhaps you might be able to negotiate free overnight shipping, i've heard of some people who've managed to get that from dell, when they've threatened dell with cancelling their order

If I was putting up with Dells crap right now waiting for an XPS or a 9100 I would definately DEMAND some kinda of compensation for waiting so long, somthing like $250 bucks off or somthin, if they dont do it then tell them you want to cancel your order.

Compensation for the delays? That would require Dell to actually express genuine care for their customers.

Well guys, I am nt waiting for a laptop right now cause I already have a really nice one but I can tell you the following.
DELL is pretty generous at least what I can tell here from Germany.
I ordered a lot of accessories and I always aked if it is possible to get it without Shipping costs and I always got the stuff shipped for free.
Also when I ordered my AXIM X3i I got a game pack for free and also got the protective shields for free.
So in my case I can say that DELL is pretty generous and there a lots of other firms that could take a bit bight from them.

All those whom are waiting these inappropriate period for shipment, I would cal up and negotiate some kind of compensation. Just threaten to cancel the order and the Dell sevice reps can be quite generous. For example, when I ordered my i8600 less than a month ago I was able to negotiate a free deluxe leather case, free shipping plus another AUD$100 off the price. You just have to be persuasive and savvy.

Was this with a phone rep? I just called today and the rep in Canada "figured" mine would "probably" go into production early next week. (All of which has the solidity of water-logged jello is my guess....)

First I received an email, and then I called a phone rep...

Looks like its the EE chip, so I might cancel and reconfigure...

When did you place your orders??
I wish at least I had an estimate of my 9100 (ordered 3/22).. and customer rep in Canada keeps telling me everything is fine according to production.. that is, until I tell them there may be a delay due to some backorders .. then they don't have a clue of the possible ship date..
I just wish somebody gave me a day!!! Even if it is for June..

Same here, Horsey. I ordered mine on 2/28. It's an EE model, and I gather those chips are on a bit of a waiting list, but still after checking the site the best I can get over a month after ordering is "it should probably go into production next week." (Translation: "Gee, I dunno what's up dude, and nobody else in this company has a clue either.")

Man I wish I could just build a laptop like I do with my desktops.

Hey, Jen,

That's sounding plan-esque. Not sure it would get here any quicker tho (I gather new systems are getting delivery estimates of 4/26 or later, sometimes much later...). Also heard the prices hiked up in the past few weeks.

I'm perfectly happy with the config I ordered and the price wasn't an issue... but seems to me that in order to be a good or even reasonable deal you should, I dunno, maybe actually GET the merchandise somewhere along the line....

I have to agree sadly. I just configured the same setup I have for my current order and it's about $350 more now. Mine is a regular 3.4 chip.

Dell knows what it's doing. I ordered March 10th and my ship date was supposed to be April 1st. I spoke with a drone who assured me that I would have it by next week after I got free next day shipping out of him. Neither the web nor the phone have been updated though with April 6 - April 8 still being my estimated in hands delivery date.

GadgetGirl, don't cancel and reconfigure, only have a sales manager do that. The manager can then expedite it so you won't lose your place in line. Mine did that for me, since the 16 cell battery was holding things up at one time. Wish mine shipped yesterday, I'd have it today, instead of Monday.
