If say I were to buy a laptop, would it be possible to have the just the outside case sent to me, so I can mod it, paint it... bla bla bla.. then send it back, have them put the components in, so that way I would still have my warrenty?

I want to have it made my way but also not lose that valuable warrenty on this very very very expensive peice of hardware

I really doubt that is possible.
That would never happen.
Why?

Because the chassis comes preassembled by Clevo with everything except the customizable options installed...Sager doesnt get a "BARE" case...

You could buy a bare case off clevo, paint it and request sager to fill it up...this is a possibility...

hmm intersesting...if the laptop can be assembled it can certainly be taken apart and put back together you just have to be careful...so i mean if you don't care about warranty then i would say to give it a try and to take pictures and post um with what you did cuz i ams ure we would all like to know

or you could buy the case from clevo, and "fill it up" yourself.

it'd be like barebone PC building!!

No. Without testing a few demo units properly you will probably end up with parts not fitting together correctly because of the thickness of paint used and paint chipping. In turn we would probably get stuck with an unhappy customer wanting their money back or for us to help them get out of the mess they got themselves into. Though some people would get away with doing it perfectly, others would try and fail and you can guarantee we would be the ones dealing with some very mad people.

Imaging this, they get it painted exactly as they like it, send it to be assembled and because of the paint and prep used, it chips off while the laptop is assembled or even during shipping. The customer gets their computer with chips and blames us because the paint job was perfect when they sent it out. That is one example of a disaster waiting to happen if we tried this!

well drat... so there would be no around getting the paint job I want without losing the warrenty...
Sure, buy SAGER and then have them build whatever you want.
um... you could have sager paint it?
u could if sager had the cablity and time/employees/ECT to do it... not count how much more it would cost. (paint is not cheap not counting labor)

I assume it would cost a bit more than the regular pricing depending also on the complexity of the design you want. I'm sure PCTorque may take a stab at it assuming it's not some completely insane design/paint job since I think they've catered to other user's special paint needs before.

If you buy Hypersonic's version of the 8790, it costs about $400 to get it painted one color. If you want a design/more colors, it'd probably be another couple hundred.
Yes we do multi-color all the time, just email.

I'd like one in Yellow, Ferrari "Fly" yellow to be exact.

Adam, You paint the 8790?

Testing it right now. If we decide to, the options will be on our site within a few days.
