I want some of what Dell is smoking. They are obviously on some heavy stuff to even consider coming out with this ugly thing. Sure the specs are nice, but that casing is hideous!

I've always found Dell's XPS line seems awfully tacky and gaudy and just.. kind of insulting to the integrity and maturity of the people who buy their systems. These laptops aren't toys ffs they're powerful pieces of electronic equipment!

poneh

You think the specs are nice?

And a 230 watt power supply? That will be the size of a shoe box...

I'm not sure about the 230 W brick...The thing would be huge and this system seems essentially the same as the 1720 so why would it need 100 more W? The only reason I could see is if they were planning to upgrade the video card later but oh well, as I've said before, I don't care.

Definitely following along the lines of the new Vostro/Inspirons with the number pad/offset touchpad etc. No regrets recently scoring my M1710 however. Nothing ground breaking from what I can see. I'm running at 2.83 all the time anyhow.

Its worse than the original PS3 controller. Way worse. I dont care if that machine had a 8900 in it, I still wouldnt want it.

looks like its based off the 1720, the lid looks meh (the XPS Gen 2/M170/M1710 lid design is far better). I also liked it when it didn't have the number pad (IMO the 1710 keyboard was better for me when it came to gaming). If this new XPS has SLi (or two 8700M cards), or can support two of them, then the 230W could be justified.

from the looks of it, IF i were to buy a new gaming laptop, it'd probably be the Asus G2P...

the faux carbon fiber look...classic =D

I'm sure when the 1730 is actually released, it won't look this bad...

Just a few words: That thing is ugly
this is the ugliest laptop i ever seen ! !blech !
do you think maybe at a later date i could get an upgrade to make it uglier or would i have to buy a new dell.

230W Power Supply could be confused for Voltage...or it could be the wattage running at 230V.
