Acer notebook question.

Hello.

As you all know, there is this numpad thing on a notebook (j = 1, u = 4 etc). To be able to use those numbers, you have to push 'Fn + Numlock'. Now, i was wondering why you cant just push 'Fn + J' to get 1. Is it a bug, or did they make it that way (If so, why make it that way)? If anyone knows a patch or something, wich can fix this problem, please let me know.

Thanks in advance.

Who knows? Maybe they thought it was too inconvenient to hold down Fn all the time. IIRC the point of the numpad was to key in number quickly, maybe having one hand busy precluded that.

In any case, Fn is usually controlled by the BIOS and not easily patched. It would be a piece of cake to assign another key, like Ctrl or something, to do it.

Damn! I do find it rather annoying to push Fn + Numlock, if it were possible to just push Fn + J. They could at least make it an option!

I use an external numpad, or the top rows if I don't bring it with me. Never thought about that one actually.
