Help, My sons laptop has no power to the monitor - the screen is black. the external monitor hook up works. How do we troubleshoot this. Are there any tutorials or good step by step pictures on line to help us? He's leaving for college soon and we need to get this fixed ourselves if we can. thanks for any help you can give us.

On your laptop there are four screws covered by a rubber nipple....remove the ruber nipple, pop off the front bezel carefully. inverter is UNDER not behind, but under the lcd, long skinny green thing..

Check the lid pressure switch (the switch that turns off the LCD when laptop is closed) this can sometime stick down causing the issue in question. if not then your LCD bulb or LCD cable might be bad, if the bulb is bad and you can confirm this id be glad to assist you further. another thing you might try is pushing the "FN" button and i believe f4 is the lcd/crt switch try that as well.good luck

I have a laptop that is suffering from that problem.(L2000 SE) you can see that the LCD is working but it looks like the bulb doesn't light up, so I wanted to ask you:
Do you think it could be the inverter, bulb, both, or something else?
Also, the laptop had apparently fallen a few weeks before it started happening and the screen was always as bright as ever(unless the brightness was lowered) so I think it might not be the bulb, but I want to make sure, so... do you know how much voltage one of those bulbs handle? I want to make a circuit to test the bulb before buying any replacements.

ps. warranty ended 3 months ago. go figure -_-!
