just how many people have got a m1710 for a 7900gs e1705 replacement? they keep insiting that they have 1705's and thats what ill be sent, i told them if i get a new 1720 ill send it back because they do not offer the 7900gs or the 7200rpm hard drive, i feel im in this for the long run first was 2 video cards when i first bought this, then 2 hard drives, now i just got my new key board and cd drive, and the cpu overheats like crazy and you cant even touch the bottom, its retarded i paid over a thousand for something like this, i wish i could just get my money back, thank god for the 2 year complete care, i still have a year left, computer will prob pay for its self 5 different times by then haha.

I dont actually have an order yet, but the guy claimed it would be replaced with a m1710. I don't think there's anyway to verify this until you get an order #.

yea everytime i call they say its being replaced with the same specs as my current and blah blah, yet they cant give me what the laptop will be exactly, just claims, they tell me their policy is the same or upgraded, but they still all say the e1705 is avalible

I dont really care if I get another E1705 right now. I just want something that has my DVI out. Any way to get them to give you the model before its actually ordered. At that point isnt it too late to do anything?

its never to late, i will send it back, i was told i would be getting a 1710 when i called, now im told i was dispatched a 1705, thats bullshit telling me one thing and sending me the same junk that just went out 5 different times. on the phone with them right now.

I just did a videocard replacement just now for a friend on his 9400, the 7900 GS, I think it just blew up on him. He treated it like a desktop, all I can say is DAMN, hope that doesn't happen to my Alien or XPS.

I was hoping that they were going to replace my E1705 with a M1710 but they are shipping another E1705 but with the better batter, larger hd, bluetooh 355, 7900gs, but downgraded me from a T5200 to a T2250 and after complaining to them they are also giving me $75 coupon for whatever I want on their site. I am still not quite happy with the cpu downgrade.
Dude I would NOT accept a CPU downgrade period. How long ago was this exchange?

yea no kidding, thats alot of money just for an upgrade in a cpu, im stilling being told they have the e1705 but not the 9400? there are the same thing? i though they were last time i checked, but yea they are morons, no one i talk to knows wtf they are talking about at all, whatsoever, some guy even told me i should have got the 8300 instead of the 7900gs? wtf is that haha anyway im about fed up with their bs as of this point, they cant even confirm what they are sending and its been since last thursday.

anyone else have any input
You shouldnt expect anything other than what you originally have. The sudden rush of exchanges for m1710 over th e1705 was because Dell suddenly had a huge back order of e1705/i9400 7900GS cards which forced exchanges to be either brand NEW 1720's or m1710.

they told me on the phone the 9400 does not ship anylonger, its not a current shipping model, they also told me the e1705 isnt like the 9400? but yea i duno, still waiting for it to show up in my order status.

well after many many hours on hold and on the phone, and via chat online they still tell me the system they are sending is better then what i have now, the people that work at tell are complete idiots, ive heard everything in the past few days, complete bullshit about dell giving up m1710 for 7900gs e1705's. ive talked to managers and everything else, tech dept tells me to call customer service, but customer service tells me to call tech, all the people i talked to are dumbshits who know nothing about their job let alone the tech they work with.
That is a huge problem with me and Dell. I got my system replaced and I couldn't get a straight answer on when it was being shipped and what it was. Customer service kept sending me to tech and tech kept sending me back to customer service, SOB's.

does it depend on weather you talk to an american on the phone or one of their calling center in India that effects your chances of arguing a better deal?
