Dell Inspiron 9100, Anyone still using this laptop

Thread Starter
Hello,

I have a Dell Inspiron 9100, 3ghz proc, 1gb ram, 60gb HD, 9800ati. I use this laptop all of the time and so does my oldest daughter.
It runs Office, WoW, kids games and many other things without any problems. I have only had to have Dell replace the motherboard once and of course the batteries dont last that long.

is anyone still using theirs? If so for what? Desktop or laptop?

I also use mine for Astrophotography and controlling my telescope, need a new battery, found out the hardway when I lost power. oops.

I don't have one but I know a couple people that do. Both systems are used as desktops and as far as I know they are still going strong. As long as it does what you need it to do there is no reason to upgrade. Just keep cleaning those fans out as I know they can get pretty dirty.

Check out my post in the mr9800 unlocking guide...I just put Windows 7 32-bit on my 9100 and with some tweaking (Google "'Inspiron 9100' Windows 7" for info on how to get audio working) I love it.

I teach at a university and brought my 9100 in to show my students and they were flabbergasted by it's size and heft.
