So I just got ahold of the M1730 Service Manual and I figured I would answer any questions you guys might have.

To answer a few:

Raid 0 Hard Drives

Built in Mic and Camera

Im still reading the manual so post your questions and I will try to answer them.

number of fans
why does Dell hate their customers so much?

Could they make any Uglier? Because we all know that if your gonna screw up the deign, you need to make so hideous that no one will buy it.

The Power Brick is 230 Watts, but there is no information on the size of it.

The laptop itself is 2.0 inches thick, and 10.80 lbs.

There are 3 total fans in the system, one on each video card, and one fan for the CPU/system.

I'm pretty confident that current lappies are 1.8" thick...I'm glad to see we're increasing in size.

What graphics card options will there be?
Will there be any other color/paintjob options?
How come they have DVI on the this when the 1330 comes with HDMI?
What kind of battery? 9-cell? 12-cell? of heaven forbid 6-cell?

I'm apparently one of the few with real questions. Oh, well. It's all fun anyway.

- Do the fans create a sound comparable to LAX?
- Do they still insist on using screens that produce light-leakage?
- What kind of battery is in it? How many seconds of run-time?
- Does it come with a full shoulder harness and waist buckle for "easy portability"?
- Does it come in brown like the Zune turd?

Zune turd brown ftw!!

i heard that m1730 gonna have single 8700M gt or SLi 8600M gt.

is it true ?
that may be an option too, however it seems to be that you can get an 8700M single, or SLi of them. I don't think those are the only options that you mentioned above.

You wait and see, this will be a BIG seller for Dell and MANY on these forums will buy it. It will be a LONG time before there will be a notebook that will do all the things we expect in a thin lightweight package. As was stated in another thread...."We should all realize that the 1730 is more of a desktop replacement than the 1710. (EG. 2 hard drives and dual graphics and more) It is light compared with the Sager top of the line and many others with the same capabilities. (some are 12-15 pounds) Also it seems Dell will have the first grabs very soon for the GeForce 8800M, imagine dual these with Core 2 Extreme X7900!!"
