Dell M1730 Question and Answer Thread - Page 2

There's really no need to put HDMI on the M1730. The laptop is large enough to accomodate the port unlike the M1330 which is not. And DVI is pin compatible with HDMI anyway, you just need an adapter to change the physical interaface. You won't have an audio connection (the M1330's HDMI has no audio as far as I know) but odds are most buyers will be using the 1730 with a computer display that has DVI, and not a TV with HDMI.

Get your facts straight before spewing! The 1330's HDMI port does have audio out capabilities

No, I'm not blind, but I need a reliable source, because last time that site said aug 27th.

Don't take it personally yashar, it's not you, it's just that this forum with all of this M1730 is making testosterone levels overload, and is just making me pissed off because 70% of posts are relative to it.

The dates are flexible, don't expect that any one date is going to be the release date. No site can predict if a company is going to change the release date at the last moment, which happens a lot unfortunately lol.

Aparrently you need to take a course in reading comprehension. I said AS FAR AS I KNOW the M1330 doesn't have audio on the HDMI port. I didn't know for certain and little details like that aren't included in the service manual...mainly because it's not important to my job I know that. I need to know what all the buttons on the outside do and how to take the thing apart and put it back together without breaking anything.

Please be more polite and READ posts before you attack somebody. I'd really hate to start having to use the banpersand.

That was a ridiculous over-reaction evil. He said it lightly in the first place (inferred by the smile) and was obviously just correcting you. Threatening a ban for correcting a moderator....I think it's a little bit over the top.

Recently this section is overflowing with trash, arguments, ect and I could see that possibly pissing a dell mod off...but you have to maintain your cool.

Not to keep on this subject but completely agree with evil. He in no way stated his opinion as fact and got called out on it later. You can't just go around saying whatever rude comment you want and throw a smiley in to make things cool.

In fact, I was going to say something earlier but I decided to keep my mouth shut. This seems to be the trend lately though. People saying whatever they want like they're somehow better than someone else on the forums.

Thx pdonket.... I wasn't trying to be mean or anything, but w/e.

These boards have become pretty ridiculous as of late

zz, mr.evil, and anyone else whom might have got their feelings hurt:

I apologize.....

Now go get your friggin' shinebox!!!!!!!!!

(That last part was a joke, just in case someone's feelings get hurt again. Then I would have to apologize again, throw in a joke or two, etc.)

You are right about the reading comp, though.... Those classes (ENG COMP 101/102) are the only ones I have gotten B's in so far, bringing my cumulative gpa down to 3.89.....

Damn english classes..........

It's not the smile that makes it all ok, but generally when a smile is thrown to a statement it's trying to give you an idea of the context. I think sleey was just trying to jest as we all do around here. Just one of those sarcastic comments

I think all the 1730 threads have made ppl cross-eyed

Since we're in such feel good moods....and we've sorted the disgusting trash talk out.....and sorted these people out who think they can say whatever they like.

I would like to say, that I'm really looking forward to this model, whatever form and spec it comes in.

I would also like to apologize to solapathy for bringing his family into my little temper tantrum in another thread.

Peace.

kbye

I apologize for the threats of banpersand. Things around here have started to get out of hand lately.

As for sleey0 the "Get your facts straight before spewing" part was uncalled for. Had he just said "The M1330's HDMI does have audio" there wouldn't have been a problem.

Now, let us returned to our regularly scheduled thread.

I'm happy about dual-link DVI! I was annoyed that my 9300 wouldn't drive my 3007WFP.

Probably not. The training manual calls the coloured plastic inserts 'personalization shields' but they are not like the one for the 1710. Romoving them involves dismantling the LCD completely and unscrewing them from the inside. You might be able to get a picture to show through the smoke grey insert - and the LED illumination might actually help but you will undoubtedly invalidate the warranty. The LED illumination for the lid does not appear to have any colour control.

Are the lid panels LED panels?

So, are the big panels on the lid LED panels, that come in one of four colours? is the brightness at least controllable? I turn my XPS Gen 2 lid lights off because, believe it or not, they shine through the screen (when there are dark colours on the screen) I do keep the speaker and vent lights on (pulsing to the beat of the music!) I guess I'm still really curious, even though the terrible port configuration and placement makes this rig rather user-hostile, to me.
