whats the fastest video card i can fit into a inspiron e1705/9400 ??? 7900gtx ?? what about 7950gtx ?

There are 100000's of posts on this try the search function. [sigh] - Yes both cards will fit as long as you have a 9400 that had a prior card - ie NOT a intel graphics solution. The 7950 is faster then the 7900, for the 9400 you need to remove a small piece of metal for the second heat pipe to slot behind the CPU fin (look at the RHS (looking from the back) of your 9400 and you can see the existing cooling fins for the CPU sitting back from the grate.
