Medium-level gaming laptop

Okay, I'm not looking to spend a ton but I want to have a laptop that will deal well with most current games. Was thinking I'd spend between 550-800.

Specs I was thinking...

1 GIG RAM
80 or 120 GB Hard drive
15-17" screen
decent processor+video card, I'm not so sure how to analyze these. Seems specific to brands?

From my searches so far the best deal has seemed to be Dell.

But the thing is I don't need the anti-virus or other services so I am wondering if that adds cost.
The 2GIG RAM and 160 GB is pretty nice.

How are the video cards and processor? Dual processors are important, right? So would the Inspiron 1420 for 50$ more be better for gaming? There is the option of adding 128MB NVIDIA GeForce for +100$ also.

Could I find a significantly better deal for a gaming laptop, which focuses more on the video card and processor, and therefore keep searching?

I've looked at a variety of websites, but I was wondering if anyone has a site which is ideal for the laptop specs I'm looking for, or has seen any specific good deals lately.

Thanks a lot.

okay, I just customized an inspiron 1420 and here is what it could come out to

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7100 (1.8GHz/800Mhz FSB/2MB cache)
2GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 at 667MHz
LCD Panel Glossy, high contrast, widescreen 14.1 inch display (1280x800)
NVIDIA® GeForce® 8400M GS Video Card 128MB x
160GB SATA Hard Drive (5400RPM)
Integrated Sound Blaster® Audigy™HD Software Edition

Final Price: $983.04

For gaming, I would personally want the 8600M. It is a much better video card, but Dell doesn't seem to stock it in their 1420. Probably not in your price range anyway. But the specs on your 1420 seem fine and it should play most games.
