slackware usb/wireless issues

im runnign slackware 9.0 on my alienware area 51m.

for some reaosn the usb ports and the pcmcia slot do not seem to be working. the usb mouse does not work.

thoughts?

when you look at the logs does it initialize the ports. Do you have the device support in the kernel? What does lspci tell you. I run Gentoo so I'm kinda at a loss for what packages slack uses.

I'm not familiar with your particular model, but you might want to try the latest version, slackware 9.1. also make sure you're using the right USB drivers(OHCI or UHCI, check via 'lspci -v' when logged in as root), you can also check which PCMCIA drivers you use in there too. Also, make sure you have the drivers compiled for whatever you're trying to plug into your PCMCIA. BTW, what kernel are you using?

You might also want to do a "dmesg -s40000 | less" and see if there's anything useful.
