New MT-6841 from Circuit City, need drivers!!

Came with Vista Home. I wiped it and now I want to install a simple XP Pro.

The windows install never finds the hard disks. I have used F6 on every setup trying all kinds of drivers. I have added the Intel 82801 drivers many times, no luck. If I wiped all the partitions completely, would that prevent the hard drive from being seen?

I have downloaded tons of Intel drivers from all these sites.

Have you tried the Gateway site? I've looked but it seems it may be hard to find.

Does the laptop come with an Windows XP option when you purchased it? Try calling Gateway although you may be on hold for a long long time.

I returned that laptop today, lost 15% restocking. Not cuz it was broke, just cuz it was an impulse decision. I should have stuck with the T60 series which I always end up with anyway.

You need this ICH9M-EM_SATA_AHCI_Controller on the install XP cd. Then good luck getting the sound to work.

Kind of an odd way of going about things. I would think that looking for drivers before wiping the HDD may have been the way to go.
