Anybody actually have the Vostro 1400?

I just ordered mine today for $779 shipped. Does anyone actually have the notebook right now?

How do you like it so far? Any pros and cons about the notebook that you love or hate? I'm just wondering if I made a good choice by choosing the Vostro 1400.

I have been using one for a week or so, I like the system alot. The only thing that bugs me about the system is the location of the audio ports, they are on the front and can be in the way if you plan to connect external peakers.

I think it is a very solid system that appears to be made from some kind of alloy (I assume Magnesium like other Dell systems). I really like the 14" size the best of the three Vostro systems I have used (1400, 1500, 1700).

My Dad asked me to order him a notebook and I choose the Vostro 1400. It is a nice little notebook. Like the other user said the audio ports are in the front which could be kind of awkward if you want to hook up external speakers/microphone. Most of the ports are on the sides of the notebook. I would have perferred that most of the ports be located in the rear except for perahps the audio ports and a few USB ports.

It seems like a good system from the few days I've used it. My biggest complaints right now are:

1) Dell's lack of XP support (which I'd prefer to use over Vista. BTW, Dell does offer Vista Premium but only via telephone).

2) The loose battery. It kind of jiggles.

3) And the build quality isn't as nice as the Latitude, Thinkpad or macbook.

But for the price it's nice. I looked at alot of 14" laptops. The only three others I would've considered were the 13" macbook, the Viao with Santa Rosa and ATI 2300 and an Asus. And the Dell one because of price and choices in configs (except for the XP snafu).

I've been very happy with mine. The cons, are minor, but IMHO are:

- Touchpad sucks on it. Worse than it was on my E1405.
- Narrow viewing angle (wxga+ w/Truelife)
- Lid shows fingerprints VERY easily

That's it. Other than those things, I love it. Keyboard is great, fit/finish is awesome, and having dedicated graphics (8400m) is
