Low Memory Transfer Rate??? Is it..

hi to all,

Experts, c'mon & help - I just done MemTest86+ for the first time on my laptop & it shows memory transfer rate only 742MB/s.

It is Samsung X15 plus, with Pentium M 1.6GHz, chipset i855PM, bus speed=99.7MHz, "Rated FSB"=398.8MHz (from CPU-Z)

Mem stick - samsung 255MB, pc2700/DDR330, CAS 2.5/3/3/7

cheers

Memtest always shows a lower bandwidth than what the system is said to have for some reason. And I've found that tighter timings increases it, so it's not exactly measuring bandwidth. I'm not quite sure what that reading's supposed to mean.

Why do you think that is low? Do you have any other benchmarks of similar systems to compare to?

That bandwidth is known as the unbuffered bandwidth. It's the RAWEST of the RAW bandwidths. A google search on it will give you a better idea of what it means.

hi,
I don't think, I'M JUST IN DOUBT as a new in this field!
That's because:
1 - it's so below theoretical max of 2700MB/s
2 - I have in my brain some figures 1300-1400-1500 (but don’t know where from and can't guarantee for my brain - could be only my fantasy!!!)

hi guys, you deal with BEGINNER & bit more explanation will be GREAT. Up till now I discovered that theoretical max for pc2700 is 2700MB/s...and that's about it! cheers
