CONNECT TWO PCs INTO ONE??

I was wondering that if its possible to connect my laptop to my desktop computer and make it run as if it was a single computer?

Here is what I mean:
My laptop connects to my desktop by a sort of cable and runs at the same time (merges) into one PC with one keyboard, mouse, and screen (NOT KVM SWITCHES!!!)

Is it possible, and if yes, how?

Why do you want to "merge" your pc and laptop? Maybe if you could tell us what you're aiming to accomplish with this, we can better help you out

In short, no, it's not possible. However, assuming that you have both PCs connected to the same network (hopefully wired for stability's sake), you could have both computers running, and on the computer you aren't using, you could share the hard drive(s) in order to be able to access the files. (disclaimer: i've never done this myself, so don't take my word for it)

If you're talking about simply controlling the other computer, I recommend using the Remote Desktop function within Windows or a third-party app that does the same thing (same disclaimer as above).

Like stuck said, though, we have no idea why you'd want to do this. It seems kind of silly, unless you're trying to combine the processing powers of each PC for a graphics program, i.e. Lightwave, in order to render large/complex objects. (disclaimers ad infinitum)

As I said, I was just wondering, not intending to do it...

Maybe this is what you mean:

Bob, I don't know how you found that, but I am definitely bookmarking it. Looks pretty ridiculous, in my opinion, but could be quite useful. And it looks exactly like what Marcy was looking for!

I dont really understand if you want to make the computers "into one" ot have them share project load (like a mini render farm?) or to have both independent computers run with the same keyboard/mouse and screen (like a dualboxing set up?)

if its the first, I have no idea.
if its the second, then Listen to Sockz, he seems right.
