Yea I'm just having a hard time finding a slot drive with those dimensions... I really want to do this it would rock being the (hopefully) first m9700 with a slot drive :]]]
Well I'm gonna keep looking... I'm guessing sony has a similar slot model, where can you find stuff like that?

The two slot loading ones? Those might work...
There both panasonic... I haven't had any experience with them. :/

This one matches your dimensions...

Ask if you can return it if it doesn't work or fit into your laptop. If the company you order from takes returns, no problem...

Yea I'll ask, the only thing I'm concerned about is the mounting screws in the chassis. There's only two I'm hoping there in the same place in most drives..
Thanks for the drives I'm looking at them right now :]

Oh and I don't burn any DVD's do I don't need the DVD burner so that will cut the cost allitle maybe in the 60$ range,

Now that I have a 9750, I can see another potential solution. Why don't you glue a piece of wood on both sides of the switch. That way smaller and a more pointed device, like a finger, would be required to push the little cd drive button.

or u could just download the lock software that was mentioned early so ur cd tray doesnt open unless you tell it too and it doesnt take away anything from the computer like adding a piece of wood.

So does anyone know a program that's Vista compatible? I tried installing this one but it gave me a bunch of weird errors.

A slot loading drive would be nice on the m9700/m9750. I've had the same issue with mine ... just thought it must be those extra pounds I've added in middle age Don't feel quite so bad now that I see others have the same problem.

Yes I'm using Vista Ultimate. Like I mentioned earlier the one I downloaded from the software's direct site worked for me. The one link from download.com gave me problems.

yeah i downloaded mine from the main page and then changed to language so I could read what I was clicking on...

I couldn't get the software to work and I couldn't find the original site of the software. Instead, I taped a piece of cardboard on both sides of the button and I think it will work.
