Travelmate 2480 no boot

I purchased a laptop with bad lcd for my laptop with a bad motherboard. It put on the new lcd booted it up and it ran for about 30 min then all of a sudden it froze with weird artifacts on screen and when i tried to reboot it nothing happened? It starts cpu fan kicks on hd starts but I have a blank screen. I have plugged in external screen nothing and waited to see if it would make it to windows IE hear the logon sounds. It seems to go no where. anyone got any ideas????

I have a TM2001 doing the same thing following a bad BIOS update through Windows. It powers on with power light, the DVD and HD access but go nowhere, and there's no POST or access to BIOS. Does that sound familiar? If so, this thread is very good on how some people got their laptops recovered.
