I gave my nephew an old laptop:
Toshiba Satellite Pro 480CDT along with Windows 98SE CD
He is in another town and is having a problem connecting to internet.
Here is what happened:
Since he got the laptop he has done a reformat and reinstall of Windows 98SE but can't get connected to his dialup ISP. He was here with the laptop and I tried to get him connected but just got error 630 message.
The ISP Tech told me on phone that it is a hardware problem ---modem??
My question is : Would the modem driver not be installed when doing the reinstall of the Windows 98SE O/S? I am pretty sure that it was back when I did a reformat and reinstall of Windows on that machine. If it just needs a modem driver, he now has one on his flash drive that he will need to transfer to CD ----- the flash drive won't work on the old Toshiba.
Hope that you can make some sense of this.
Thanks!
