systemax pursuit 4110u help

my laptop shuts off in like less than a minute and wen i take out the plug, the metal piece at the end is really hot..........im guessing this is an overheating issue or there is something wrong with the dc connector,...........if anybody can help me on how to fix this problem i wuld really appreciate it

it's a systemax pursuit 4110u, probably from around 2004 or 2003

Your battery could just be old and dead. Now when you say hot are we talking burn you if you touch it? Has there been any damage to the power brick or the cords them self's?
