Just not getting internet!

Bought a macbook pro last week. My network is setup with a linksys G router downstairs and then an extender upstairs. I used to get internet connection with my dell and initially with my macbook pro but the past 3 days I haven't gotten any internet. The thing is that airport express recognizes and shows my linksys router. Anyone have something similar?

it wouldn't be the first time a wireless router sends out the wireless and isn't connecting to the internet. have you checked a direct ethernet connection? sounds like the range booster might be part of the problem too.

Honestly, I have had nothing but issues from Linksys routers, both in Windows and OS X, but OS X more so. Netgear routers I have found, are really good, and never cause any issues.

Why would brand matter about range though? You guys are saying if I go out and buy a netgear router and extender I wont have this problem?

Have you power cycled your router? This should force it to acquire a new IP address from your ISP.

If your Airport card picks up signal, then the problem should be somewhere in the area between your router and the ISP.

Here's what has happened to me in the past. For whatever reason, sometimes the router will not refresh the IP address for DHCP connections, and the ISP pretty much boots you. I had this problem with an old Netgear router, but newer Netgear routers fixed that.
