Replacing a standard HD with SSD?

Thread Starter
Since SSD drives are growing more popular because they're faster, is it possible to replace a SATA HDD with a SSD SATA in a laptop? I was just wondering. Thanks in advance for answering.

Yes. Prices haven't gone done enough though.

Storage capacity is still damn low too.

I saw a 120 GB one and I was like "wow :]" But it's expensive though...
That would be nice having those in raid config...

i remember seing a 320G SSD somewhere but the price was crazy

is the performance gain for SSD is worth it?

Only if battery time and access times matter to you. Don't expect it to give you better gaming performance as games mostly depend on the CPU, RAM and GPU.

I don't think it's worth it. How long do you have to wait for hd access, and what's it worth to save a fraction of a second in load times?

If you do renders or big file transfers, it may be noticeably quicker, but like RAID, I think it's more about tech bragging rights than performance for the money...
