... brought it to work Friday noc but haven't had the time to open the box. I'm staring at the box on my desk, unopened, a virgin 8790 just waiting- no dead pixels- MAYBE, wait, I hear a "hum" and banter like from the Monolith in 2001 A Space Oddessy.... now the box is glowing........ AHHHHHHH- the shift ends at 0730, I get to carry the unopened back home, almost like Xmas morning!!!!

Later,

btw- I sold my 5660 (a tear, I really liked that lappy) on Ebay for ~$1000, not too shabby eh!

hey recluse, $1000 for your 5660 is not bad at all... how much would you try to sell a 5670 for? I am about to try to sell mine and not sure what I can get. I was thinking $1300... but I dunno.

GG,

I listed @ $850 w/o reserve for 7 days. No bids for ~ 6 days, but many hits for info. Had basically 5 bids w/ one in the final minute for a final bid of $972 w/ $35 for shipping/insurance. I thought for the 5660 setup I had, that was pretty good. For the 5670 GG, depends on the configuration, but maybe $950 to 1000 to start, reserve price if you want a minimum selling price, and if list on Ebay, do it during the day and not at noc, bidders usually wait until the last day/hours to bid and more are awake during the day! I was very happy with my deal and the winner appears happy with his 5660. Also, I did offer a 10 day trial/refund period for the winner to "burn it in". The transferable warranty it a definte selling point. Here is the link to the auction:

Also, good communication with the bidders/winner helps.

follow-up on 8790

Opened the box, well packed, awesome looking notebook!

* Did not order RAID enabled and the swtiches were set appropriately from the factory.

* Loaded the Gigabyte wireless software and connected flawlessly to the AP
(D-link di 624). The laptop to AP distance is about 8' and connecting at
108 Mbps. No drops in signal strenght so far.

* Loaded XP Home and the 44 critical updates and many XP updates.

* Loaded Omega 2.530 driver, installed w/o problems, no OC yet.

* Fans are running, but no worse (and maybe even quieter) than the 5660. Heat production appears pretty much the same as the 5660, but haven't run any games yet. Looking to load Chrome and Deus Ex 2 here shortly.

* The box packed in the shipping container works well as an impromptu laptop desk on the legs!

* The screen is AWSOME, much real estate for page displays, I'm impressed.
Running at 1440x900.

* The CD/DVD drive is opposite side of the 5660, no big deal.

* The only flaw so far is the rubber cap covering the ports on the left side, it's loose and keeps falling out. No big deal, will place where the hot air blow out to soften and stretch to fit.

* No problems with the keyboard.

* Awesome machine, love the heat, fans, and size/weight of the beast!

* Need to change my signature.

More 8790

* NO dead pixels (3 for 3), clean screen.

* The free laptop bag is pretty nice for the money!

* No ATI sticker, the 9000 one was pretty slick, has the Interl sticker.

* The power brick heat and fan noise is pretty much same as 5660.

* Love the widescreen LCD!

Also, the manual is well written and filled informative stuff- if in doubt, RTFM, as others have said. Been surfing on battery for the last 60" (23%).
