Hey all
Im looking for a 15 inch buisness class notebook that can handle games at at least low settings. Ive been looking at the Dell M4300 and D830. Also at the HP 9440. Which of these would do me better? I play Oblivion, FEAR, and FSX mostly. I would like to run them at at least 800x600 and low settings.

I'd ignore the M4300....it's a D830 with a different BIOS and nothing more.

The only game that's been a huge problem for my D820 has been Company of Heroes. It does Quake4, ET:QW beta, BF2, BF2142, HL2 (and other Source games) and Star Wars Empire at War just fine. The lowest resolution I use for any of those games is 1280x1024...several run fine at 1680x1050.

Vostro 1500 w/ a 8600gt

I doubt the build quality is as good as the Latitude line but it is a business line notebook.

the thinkpad t61 seems to be just about the same as the d830 in terms of specs

yeah the np2090 looks pretty good and has good specs for a good price. Justin@xoticpc is a good guy also, he'll answer any and all of your questions.

The D830 has 128MB of Extra dedicated Video RAM over the Thinkpad T61. VRAM doesn't 100% make or break a card, but these GPUs need every ounce of help they can get.

Also, even though Vostro is sold as a business laptop, it's just the Inspirons with a different paint job. In my book a business class laptop has one important feature....docking. Thinkpads have it, Dell latitudes and Precision Mobiles have it, HP's business line has it, there are others too. Sagers do not have a true docking option that I know of.
