I just got a 7950GTX for my Dell E1705 from Ebay, my questions is, is there any way I can check to make sure this is indeed 7950GTX not some fake 7900GTX with bios mod. I just ran a quick 3DMark 05 with 90w power supply and got like 7250 score... I am waiting for that 130W power supply, in a mean time if someone can answer the question, greatly appreciate

you must talk about NiBitor program. but i thought that is a program can be use to modified the memory setting... anyway I got my for 335 and it just drop right into my E1705. only thing I have to mod is the plastic piece on the the chassis for second pipe to sit correctly, no mother broad mod need. I am still on the 90W power supply, so far it been good and run much cooler then my 7900gsx mod

It does run games smoother than the GS. If you can afford it, it's a good upgrade.

what makes you think that? Everyone ive talked too who did the change from 7900gsx to 7950 says it night and day difference in gaming high resolution. 3dmark05 was being tested at a low resolution so the scores werent different between the 7900 gsx and 7950 gtx, but under high resolution the differences are shown and the difference is night and day.

Some of the fastest 7900GSX owners switched recently and said in pm's to me when I was deciding to do the change that the change it pure nuts the fps go through the roof in games like dirt and fear.

An easy way to find know its not a GS is to check the onboard memory. A way to check if its a 7900GTX with substituted ID strings is to check the size of the bios. Dont know where my flash drive is right now so I dont know the size difference between a 7900 and 7950 GTX. If its a small difference, then it wouldnt be a hard task to change it. Most people wouldnt go through the effort though.
