From my experience, Vista does take longer to open up MS Office files than the XP, but it's not 5 minutes. What version of office are you using?

No issues with Vista/Office here.

I am running Office 2007 Standard and it is blazingly fast, the fastest version I have ever used.
When I open Outlook, it is instant, no hd thrashing like previous versions, and Word and Excel are equally as fast...I love it.

I'm running Office XP and it loads instantly, I'm not sure what's going on with your computer. So you formated the drive and reinstalled windows (not just uses a restore disc)?

What speed is ur hard drive and what ram you have?

If you have a 4200 rpm hard drive like my BRAND NEW top of the line toshiba G40, then it will be like snail in vista.

I took fxxking 1 hour and 20 minutes to boot up for the first time when it get the image from a partition. INSANE.
After boot up, it takes another 4 hours to configure and download and install stuff by itself. During the process, it takes 3 minutes to open windows explorer. Lost so much hair while frustrating with a brand new top of the line laptop.

I miss my m1710, and windows xp.
