Need some help with memory

I have a HP DV6409wm notebook, product #GA452UA#ABA and unless I'm missing something, I cannot determine a compatible memory chip to buy so I can update to 2GB. Most of the memory vendor websites configuration tools do not list this laptop because it is so new. Anybody have any suggestions? The DV6409us is listed on Kingstons site but it uses an intel chipset. I have the Nvidia chipset in mine, will they cross over?

There are a number of good utilities that will read the SPD off of your current memory chips. You can then take the info and buy the appropriate memory chips from New Egg.

I have used CPU-Z and it shows I have Samsung Memory currently installed, but I was looking for another brand on ebay. I'm looking at the Kingston KTH-ZD8000B right now that is compatible with the DV6409us.

Another way is to go to HP's upgrade website; look up the memory for your computer (it will be listed as DDR PC5300 / 667 MHz) or something to that efffect; and you can purchase it from any reliable retailer. The HP service maual, which you can downlaod from HP, should also show what the specs are for the memory modules.

Otherwise do a search on google for memory SPD application. the SPD is a chip or EPROM on each memory modulethat tells the BIOS what the memeory timing and frequency requirements are for the installed memory.
Good luck!

LOL. HP's Memory finder tool on their website doesn't even list the 6409wm. I guess I could dig a little and see what other models use the same board and try to look up chips for those models. That should work. I'll take another look at CPU-Z and try to figure it out. Just seeing if anyone new off the top of their head what would work. Thanks.

Just for those who may aquire this model laptop in the future, the following module from Kingston KTH-ZD8000D/1G will work. There are several other HP models using the same Quanta 30B7 mainboard that can use this memory. I cross referenced each board by HP's part number to make sure.
