That might be the next step.
This is already being done by ModBook (TableMac), a company called Axiotron that modifies the MacBook and provides their own warranty...
After all Apple was a pioneer with bringing out some of the first laptops/notebooks.
This might be the next pioneering step.
iPhone is establishing itself on the market and Apple are gaining learning from its usage.
They could scale this technology up to the screen size of a MacBook or MacBookPro.
The multi touch capability of the iPhone would be applicable to much Mac software: imagine being able to select a region of a waveform or a film sequence in an audio/video editor by 'pinching' with your fingers, imagine being able to select a region of an image or drawing by 'pinching'.
Of course traditional input devices such as bluetooth keyboards and mice would still be available.

Will this be released at the same time as Leopard?
Features cited on their website for Leopard have the disclaimer "subject to change" in small print. Not only does that allow for omissions due to project slippage (already delayed to October as we know), it also allows for additions we had not been told about.
It's a pity for those considering buying now that Apple would not have publicised this in advance like they did with the iPhone. But with the iPhone, this did not affect sales of any previous product as a tablet MacBook(Pro) might affect existing Mac sales.
