Pics: Dell 2707

Here's a quick review (I'll try to get a more detailed one up soon and add it to the original post)

When the 2707 first came out, it was more expensive than the 3007!, but now it is $100 cheaper on the dell site. imho it is still way over priced considering you can get a westinghouse 37" for $999.99 but I couldn't pass up this particular 2707 b/c I got for really cheap.
I've owned several different LCD's:

17" Envision
19" Viewsonic
19" hyundai L90D+
24" gateway
24" Dell

Pros: It's great, although some people may complain about the dot/pixel/inch (ie. 2407 vs 2707)
-great size (I loved the 24" it was absolutely perfect, but now experiencing the 2707...I would definitely opt for the 2707 since it is bigger =D & watching HD clips/movies on it is even more amazing than on a 24"...I'm sure it would look even better on a 37" or bigger LCD)
-price (well the price I got mine for, since it was 2nd hand...not sure if you can pick these up from Dell outlet yet, but I roughly half of what it's going for now =D w00t!)
-aluminum framing vs. plastic: wow the brushed textured/polished aluminum framing makes it look so classy & clean vs the black plastic on the other dell lcd models, plus it has a black glass base that is thick and sturdy
-card reader & usb hub (the same on all the upper end dell lcds)
-easy tilt/ergonomic arm...since it uses a different type of "arm" than the other dell lcd's, it does make adjustments rather easy

Neg:
-no portrait mode: unlike other dell lcd's, the dell 2707 does not have portrait mode =(, but then again you could always get an aftermarket "arm" to do this
-colors are not as accurate as a 17" lcd display, although it looks great

Here are some side by side pics: (Dell on left, AW on right (I believe it's the LG 17" lcd that Dell XPS use as well...no flash vs flash)

no flash

2nd Desktop w/ more color (no Flash)

-price (brand new, w/ out coupons this thing is currently going for $1019.00, again w/ that price you can get a 37" westy 1080p...they're both great buys, but I would opt for the westy if I had that kind of $ to blow =D)
-heat (I haven't really experienced it yet, but it really can't be that bad compared to the heat coming out of the exhaust of my 9750 =P)

I'll try to post more pics of it later...gotta spend time w/ the wife =P

very nice.......for $500 you practically stole it

Thanks for posting Yang,I guess you've got the right notebook to display your games on that biggie at native res.
BTW,did you run a colour calibration tool or something to know the colour is off or something, just wondering,as to me,I can see a lot more detail in the monitors colours/contrast than the notebook ?
Ahh,got to spend time with the wife eh,is that to get brownie points back for spending all that money lately on lappie and monitor. Also glad to see you've got your priority's right, utilising what looks like quite an expensive dining room table for all your computer gear.

lmao, yeah it's a very nice dining room table, we're staying w/ my mother in law until our new house is finished @ the end of the yr =D

I'm debating on getting a spyder 2 to calibrate the monitor...from the pictures the color does seem to show more details, I guess I'm a little spoiled from the 17" since the dot pitch/inch is smaller and images look more sharper/detailed...

I will try to add additional pics of the "arm," backside detail, the glass base, card reader, and visual angles...

My wife & I watched "Disturbia" last night & it looked absolutely great on the 2707...so far I am extremely happy w/ it

nah I have the 230 2.1 version (I'm going to get some logitech z5500's as soon as my new house is built =D

the 2.1's are plenty loud for now (I live w/ my Mother in law, brother in law, son & wife...so yeah it's a packed house =(...)
those are good little 2.1 especially for price.....what are they now $35
post #10 of 18
I have the same speakers as Yang hooked up to my D820's docking station. Pretty nice sounding features for the price. I exclusively use headphones with my Desktop.

the Z5500's look pretty beastly, I just wish I had the $300 to spend on it! But I have to say, for the price the X-530's are pretty great. Only $60 for 5.1!

yeah, i'm pretty blown away by the 2.1 230's, they are plenty loud and I've had zero issues w/ them @ all...for 30 bucks (best buy 12% off), I can't really complain

but yeah the x5500's are absolute beasts...I'll be retiring the m9750 to mostly media use/mobile gaming once our house is finished...so the z5500's will be put to good use =D

What will you be replacing the m9750 with as the lead dog in your lineup? water cooled beastly desktop?

Sounds like an awesome setup....I sorta regret not waiting for the X38 chipset and 9 series on my desktop, that sadly still haven't even been shipped out, because that would've really given me the best possible system for a while. Especially with the super cheap Q6600.
