There won't be DX10 only games for a looooooooooooooooooooong time....and dx10 low settings will make the game look much worse than DX9 high settings anyway...

i dont see why people think its gonna blow on dx10 games, i mean have you played any? isnt company of heros a direct x 10 game? because i have that and play it on high settings just fine with no lag, heck even a few were set on ultra. all at 1440x900 just fine, i couldnt pan the friggin camera down across the entire map with my 7900gs even oc'd it laged hella bad.

Is it in dx10 mode? that's the key. Get call of juarez and turn on dx10, report back then

I'm done arguing

Not like I'm even in the laptop market right now xD

I'm glad you like your laptop enough to defend it though

im glad your a ****ing moron enough to assume im defending it, but whatever just hop on that wagon and yeeeee haaawww huh? big ethugs, this site is a ****ing joke anymore.
Calm down man, I'm saying your defending it whether it's good or not. I think the 8600 is underrated for the most part and that you are on the money that it is much better than people are saying.

I'm really not trying to start a fight here at all. Sorry mycrx.

pdonket i have nothing against you, your cool and help many people on here, i just got flamed up about people thinking im defending it like ive never owned a computer before, this 1720 is the replacement for my e1705 that i bought refurbished with a 7800go, the gpu was replaced like 1 month after i bought it with a 7900gs which i loved and still do half the fun was seeing how high i could overclock it, being refurbished they would only send me a m1710 if hell froze over and pigs started to fly ive not said once that the 8600 is better, only its capable of at least low-med dx10 stuff which i know isnt much out and by the time all the games require it they will be in 9xxx cards lol but hey its a good laptop for people like me that cant afford a xps or a 7950gtx, i think you can build this computer for about 1300 on dell, my bill says 1600 but they added this office 2007 software junk, and its a decent machine, i mean only 1k points less then my 7900gs and its not overclocked all the way, highest ive seen so far is 7400 which is what i scored running vista with my 7900gs, also the stock score on my 7800 go was 4800 id place the 8600m gt respetivly between a 7800 and 7900, and i know how hard it is to determine what is gonna be right for you, and i wanted people to know the performance of the 8600m gt, because its new and not much info let alone a decent drive is avaliable and also i only have a t5450 1.66 processor and a 1gig or ram, im sure youd score alot high with a faster system, but i still play bf2142,ghost recon 2,dod, company of heros just fine with only 1gig and 1.66cpu

I feel like I would be in your shoes if my E1705 died as well. I don't seem to have arguing skills (or luck) with Dell so I probably would've gotten the 1720. I also know where you're coming from because I don't have the money for the most amazing system in the world either. Sometimes I do spend a bunch on my systems but I could never go as high as the XPS' come in at...$2500+ is just a hell of a lot to spend on a computer.

Also, from what I can see and from what you've explained on here, the 8600 deserves more respect than what it has been given from the beginning. I cannot go as far as to say it is the highest end card, but it certainly doesn't deserve all the disrespect it receives either.

You should've gotten a M1710, but the good side of it all is that you took the news well and are trying to make the most of the machine you have now which I must commend I myself am very negative about most things so when I see someone who can make the most of the situation, despite it being a bit unfair...it deserves recognition.

The people on this forum of course are going to say that you card is literal crap. And sometimes I find myself saying this too, but when we say that...it means it will run games on medium, not high/ultra settings So, take all opinions with a grain of salt and all will be well

Sorry for writing so much, and I hope I offended no one by saying this. Not you mycrx, nor anybody else...I'm not trying to call anybody out by saying we underrate things, it's just how gamers get after playing too many hours with eye candy

Trust me, there is no reason to apologize. This guy is acting like a real hothead right now. That's all I'll say and I'll just leave the lure out with the flamebait already attached. Plain and simple - that 8600 is a decent card. Its gonna get rocked by Crysis.

DAMN. STFU mycrx. Seriously. GO overclock your stupid video card for the EXTRA 3fps you're gonna get. With that one fan, and i'm sure you didn't spend extra on an extended warranty... your Laptop will die in a year.

Good luck!

Dude, calm down. This is an internet forum and he is entitled to his opinion just as much as you are. Mycrx was simply trying to show us more about the 8600 and it turned into a "everybody kill the non-believer". I'm not trying to say that the 8600 is better than the GS (nor is he) but he was just trying to say that he is enjoying the card and that people shouldn't go cry if they get the card.

Mycrx, I would suggest you don't respond in anger to his point because it will just get you possibly in trouble. I was egged on in Alienware, thus losing my CR status etc etc so I'd rather not see anything happen to you.
