I feel like I would be in your shoes if my E1705 died as well. I don't seem to have arguing skills (or luck) with Dell so I probably would've gotten the 1720. I also know where you're coming from because I don't have the money for the most amazing system in the world either. Sometimes I do spend a bunch on my systems but I could never go as high as the XPS' come in at...$2500+ is just a hell of a lot to spend on a computer.
Also, from what I can see and from what you've explained on here, the 8600 deserves more respect than what it has been given from the beginning. I cannot go as far as to say it is the highest end card, but it certainly doesn't deserve
all the disrespect it receives either.
You should've gotten a M1710, but the good side of it all is that you took the news well and are trying to make the most of the machine you have now which I must commend

I myself am very negative about most things so when I see someone who can make the most of the situation, despite it being a bit unfair...it deserves recognition.
The people on this forum of course are going to say that you card is literal crap. And sometimes I find myself saying this too, but when we say that...it means it will run games on medium, not high/ultra settings

So, take all opinions with a grain of salt and all will be well

Sorry for writing so much, and I hope I offended no one by saying this. Not you mycrx, nor anybody else...I'm not trying to call anybody out by saying we underrate things, it's just how gamers get after playing too many hours with eye candy
