my warranty is still the same, i have a year left on the 2 year at home complete care that i piad extra for, honestly i hope it dies within the next year maybe they will have some other card by then who knows, kinda like the 7800 to the 7900, and fan isnt bad, it runs way cooler then my 1705 did, oc;d to the max it only gets 70C

Wow love how this thread turned into crucifying mycrx b/c he isnt pissed about having an 8600...
seriously if all you have to do to get the same performance out of the 8600 as the 7900gs is to turn down settings slightly, who cares? If its important to you then you should've never gotten the 8600 to begin with.

To be honest Dr.D, this thread probably should've been locked by now in the first place, and mycrx's post was only here to give us some facts on the 8600 to help other users, not so that people could go against or for the 8600 on an argument level.

I have to second what atwood said.

Ok guys, that is enough.

It is NOT necessary to play games at 30000x20000 with 98xAA and 240AF at a 1343445423 frames per second to enjoy your games.

All of the 8xxx cards are not faster than the 7xxx cards. Only the top of the line cards are supposed to be faster. This does not apply to mid-range cards.

If he's happy running his games with an Nvidia 8600 good for him, let him be (8800m will only fit on 17" systems and larger anyway). If you are happy running your games on (insert future card here) then so be it, not everybody has the same needs.

Doesn't look bad on my "outdated" rig.

It is a 2.4 Ghz P4, 1GB DDR, NV 7600GS 256MB. I'm happy with it.
